Udeh-Okoye who played host to officials from the US embassy on Wednesday, accused the All Progressives Congress, APC-led federal government of harassing opposition members in the country.

He submitted his petition to the US team led by Mr. Franz Seitz, the political officer of US embassy, adding that he has submitted similar petition to the ambassadors of UK and Germany in Nigeria.

According to a release by the Press Secretary of the PDP national youth leader, Mr. Okah Ewah Edede, the quest was “to get the international community to exert pressure on the APC-led federal government of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to conduct free, fair and credible elections in 2019 and to respect the rule-of-law”.

According to the release, the US government’s representative assured the PDP national youth leader that the White House will look into the merits of the petition and act accordingly.

On August 30, 2018, the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, transmitted a petition to British Prime Minister, Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ‘persecute’ opposition leaders in the country.

Reacting, the APC berated Secondus and the PDP, noting “he took the internal matters of the country’s politics to the international scene by writing letters to various international organizations“
